LOLER is Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 and came into force on 5 December 1998

If you own or operate lifting equipment (i.e. tail lifts) then it is a legal requirement for your equipment to undergo regular LOLER Thorough Examinations. Commercial tail lifts require at least one LOLER Thorough Examination each year. If the equipment lifts people (this includes the operator as well as any passengers) the requirement is for 2 examinations per year.
